A warm welcome to Ampleforth Abbey
Ampleforth Abbey has been home to a community of Benedictine monks since 1802, living according to the Gospel and the Rule of St Benedict.
Set in 1,200 acres of beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, the Abbey is a working monastery and a place where all are welcome. You’re free to visit, whether you’d like to walk or cycle through the valley, step inside the Abbey Church for a service, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
We also offer modern retreat facilities for those looking to pause and reflect in a peaceful setting.
Our Visitor Centre, Tea Room and Abbey Shop are open every day from 10am to 5pm and there is no admission fee to enter the site.
