Ampleforth Abbey serves four parishes across the North of England:

Diocese of Middlesbrough

  •  Our Lady and St Benedict, Ampleforth
  • St John's, Easingwold
  • Our Lady & St Chad, Kirkbymoorside with St Mary, Helmsley

Archdiocese of Liverpool

  •  St Joseph's, Brindle

Monastery of Christ the Word in Zimbabwe

In 1996 Archbishop Chakaipa and the Zimbabwean bishops invited the Ampleforth community to establish a monastery in Zimbabwe so that they could bring a monastic, religious presence to the country. Thus the Monastery of Christ the Word was founded at Macheke in the Archdiocese of Harare and is visited each year by the Abbot of Ampleforth.

The work of the monks resident was to be a centre of prayer and renewal in Zimbabwe, a living witness in a culture far removed from North Yorkshire.

Today our community at Christ the Word comprises four solemnly-professed monks (one a native of Zimbabwe).
