Birds and Landscapes of the Ampleforth Valley and Beyond an exhibition of watercolours by Jonathan Pomroy
This exhibition of recent work by Jonathan Pomroy brings together en plein air and some studio paintings. He has lived in the ‘valley’ for over a decade and has sketched many aspects of its natural history, landscape and weather.
The exhibition in part, will highlight Jonathan’s passion for observing and conserving swifts. He has spent much of his painting life studying and sketching swifts and the skies they inhabit, to raise awareness of this Red Listed species, which led to him winning the Birdscapes Art for Conservation Award at the Society of Wildlife Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries in 2023.
Visitors will be able to see pages from Jonathan’s sketchbooks on a screen in the gallery. The exhibition will feature watercolours of many birds and landscapes familiar to those who know the Ampleforth valley.
