The annual retreat for the monks of Ampleforth Abbey begins on Monday 3 August and will be led by Abbot Joseph Delargy OCSO, Abbot of the Cistercian community at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire.
The retreat begins at midday on 3 August with the Office of Sext, followed by the opening conference of the retreat. During the retreat, there will be no public celebration of the Office of Sext in the Abbey church. Mass will be celebrated in the Abbey church at the usual time of 9.00am each day.
The monastic community extends a warm welcome to guests and visitors to Mass at 9.30am on Sunday 9 August in the Abbey Church, at which Abbot Joseph will preside. Abbot Joseph joined the Cistercian community at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in 1986 and was elected abbot in July 2023. He is now in his third six-year term as abbot.
