Easter Triduum Homilies and Conference Resources

Fr Ambrose holding torch at Easter

We hope you had a blessed and happy Easter 2025.

Whether you were able to celebrate with us and you'd simply like to reflect on your experience, or you weren't able to tune in at the time, we've included resources from Easter services and our retreat conferences in this special Jubilee Year.

Triduum Retreat Conferences

This year's talks from the monastic community carried the theme of 'Christ: Transmitter of Hope', welcoming all to join us as a fellow 'Pilgrim of Hope' as the church celebrates it's 2025 Jubilee.

‘Introduction: A Liturgy of Hope’ by Fr Oswald

In one of the great Easter Prefaces, we address Christ as “the Priest, the Altar and the Lamb of sacrifice”. In a very real sense, that is precisely what we celebrate at each Triduum. In this first talk, Fr Oswald will seek to explore these themes in the Triduum liturgies, so that walking with Jesus through these holy days we may truly become Pilgrims of Hope.

‘Why Should We Hope’ by Fr Gabriel

How can the brutal and lonely death of Jesus on the cross, which we commemorate on Good Friday, give us hope? In this talk I will look at the answer that St Paul gives to this question in his letter to the Romans, chapter 5 verses 1-11, seeing how the points he makes are also reflected in St Luke’s account of the Passion of the Lord, notably in Luke 23 verses 32-49.

‘Suffering: A doorway to Hope’ by Fr Bede

“There is headroom in the cave of Bethlehem for all who know how to stoop”. The beginning of the pilgrim journey began with the ‘no vacancies’ sign on the door of the inn and progressed through a series of doorways of Hope towards the soon-to-be-discovered stone, rolled away from the cave of the tomb. We speculate on the code words enabling Mary Magdalen and her companions to gain entry, whilst authorisation for Peter and the ten is delayed.
