Where the Saints Have Trod II
Now in their fourth year!
A walking retreat, with three pilgrimages to the holy sites of Yorkshire, sauntering with the saints.
The first day a walk from Kirby Moorside via Gillamoor and Hutton le Hole to the Norman Crypt at Lastingham, where Ss Cedd and Chad had been monks in the seventh century.
The second day a walk from Ugthorpe, where Blessed Nicholas Postgate was based for the final twenty years of his life in the late seventeenth century, to Whitby Abbey, where St Hilda was Abbess in the seventh century.
The third day a walk from Ampleforth via Stanbrook Abbey to the twelfth century Rievaulx Abbey, the home of St Aelred.
Each day we will begin the morning with prayer, depart on our trips after Mass, fill the day with walking (some of it silent), stops for prayer, song, readings and a picnic lunch, and return to the Abbey for Vespers and a convivial evening reflection. The walks are for those able and willing to take on four to five hours, six to eight miles, up hill and down dale.
Full board and light refreshments are included.
